4th of July

So after years and years of trying to convince Kevin to let us get a bigger pool - he finally caved. After vacation we were talking about how much the kids loved the pools in the hotels and how important it was for them to learn how to swim and be comfortable in the water. We found a pool on sale and figured we could squeeze it onto the cement slab in the back. It was big enough and deep enough for them to be able to practice swimming - much better than the tiny little blue pool that they could pretty much sit in :)

It rained, it seems to always rain on 4th of July lately, but it cleared up in time for fireworks

Road Trip #1 2015 - Canon City

We knew we wanted to go somewhere but couldn't decide on where. We only had a long weekend so it had to be somewhere close. We decided to go to Canon City, then stopped by Colorado Springs on the way back home. Other than the hotels being a big huge let down (in my eyes - the kids thought the hotels were amazing so that's good) we all had a wonderful time. We got home and immediately started thinking about where and when we could go again :)

Garden of the Gods - right when we were getting ready to walk around there was a flash flood warning and we were trying to figure out what to do, but we had to come back home the next morning so we didn't have another time to go, so we decided we'd just do a little walk and try to make it quick. We thought we had time because it was barely raining - but then we almost got struck by lightening - I'm not even kidding - it was SO close it made my hair on my arms stand straight up. I have never been so scared of being struck by lightening in my life. I could not get out of there quick enough.

When we were getting out of the van Bradley wanted to bring his backpack FULL of random toys which was very heavy. We tried to talk him out of it and warned him that it was going to get super heavy very fast and it wasn't smart to drag all that around because it was going to make him really tired and we were NOT going to carry it for him. But he insisted. And what do you know, 5 minutes into the walk he says, "Ugh - there's something really heavy in here!" Uh, yeah, that's what we said :) And then when the thunderstorm came he was convinced that he was going to get struck because he had metal on him from the backpack. Lesson - listen to Mommy and Daddy :)
