Memorial Day

I was super excited for Memorial Day weekend. The number one thing on my list was Bradley's first t-ball practice. He has, no kidding, been playing baseball since he was 1. He is amazing and he LOVES it! All day, every day, he wants to play. I tried my best to get him in baseball last year but he missed the cut-off age by 2 months, so now he FINALLY gets to play on a team!!! We woke up early Saturday morning and took him to his very first practice and it was SO much fun to watch. Then - surprise! - Mom and UNCLE RICK show up :) I had to clue he was coming this time and it was a wonderful surprise! We had a little BBQ for Memorial Day on Sunday and had everyone over.

Jorge joined us again. Bradley has an amazing memory, he hasn't seen Jorge since last Memorial Day when we had a BBQ and planted our garden. When we were planting our garden he started asking when Jorge was going to come over again and play ball with him - well he got his wish :)

Garden time again

Yay! I've been excited to plant again this year - why? Because I was actually able to keep something ALIVE last year!!! SO surprising and exciting for me :) Last time we tried 3 different things. This time I thought I would branch out a little more, so we did those 3 plus... 6 more. We'll see how this goes. I tried to read up on what should be next to what and what needs to be kept away from what, but it seems like a lot of stuff to me. Last time I had 3 of every plant so if 2/3 died I'd still get SOMETHING. This time I pretty much have one of each, so... like I said... we'll just see. I also realize that some of the things need more space than I'm actually giving it, so that probably won't work. I was kind of wishing my garden was bigger this time, but we'll just try to make it work with what we've got. Here's the lineup: tomato, green pepper, yellow pepper, carrots, green beans, watermelon, strawberry, zucchini, and corn! I also want to do some more sunflowers again because they were so much fun to watch grow, but I didn't have room in the garden. I'll have to try to stick them somewhere else - somewhere that the dogs won't kill them, and I have yet to find a spot that they might have a chance. They might have to go in my front yard :)

Where did the time go??? Bradley had his last day of preschool, and I was a wreck! He was totally fine, and excited to have t-ball and kindergarten to look forward to. Until I made the mistake of talking to someone about how sad I was within earshot of Bradley - then he was a little sad... oops :( I don't think he totally understood that that was his last day and he wouldn't be going back. He has started to ask multiple times since then when he has preschool again, then he remembers and gets a little sad. It was just so much fun for him. I was hesitant to bring him anywhere because I am so used to, and LOVE, him being with ME all the time. I absolutely loved his teacher and he felt comfortable and loved it there from day one. We met some really good friends that I know we'll keep in touch with and I'm just so glad he had such a good FIRST school experience. We all went to City Park for the end of the year picnic with everyone and got to ride the trolley and play for a couple of hours.

A day in the mountains

We all went up to Dad and Jan's to enjoy some lunch and company. Mindy and the family were busy getting ready for the graduation party, so they weren't able to make it. The weather was so nice and my kids automatically wanted to explore the rocks. Sure reminded me of when I was a kid and spent HOURS wondering around those rocks.

Mindy Townsend B.S.W.!!!

Mindy graduated!!! My wonderful, amazing, multi-talented, loving sister graduated from CSU. After leaving CSU about 14 years ago to have her amazing children she returned a couple years ago to pursue her degree in social work. After juggling family, work, and school for 2 years she is finally done!! I am super happy for her and can't imagine doing all that she's accomplished in school while still having time for every soccer, baseball, volleyball, AND basketball practices and games that her children take part in, AND working at the same time. It's a big deal and she should be super proud of herself! I can't wait for her to get into a job that she loves in the field of social work. We all went to her pinning ceremony before graduation and then went out to lunch and I was able to take some pictures of everyone.
